Ambient is a dashboard app for iPad and iPhone that shows the time, weather, your calendar, timers and background photos, and has an optional voice assistant. Ambient is made by SIA Codo (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what data Ambient uses, where it goes and what we keep.
In short: your calendar, location and settings are kept on your device, and calendar data goes directly between your device and Google. We don't have user accounts, we don't sell data, and we don't use your data for advertising. If you turn on the voice assistant, what you say and the dashboard's context (including your upcoming events) are sent to an AI service only while you're talking to it, and none of it is stored.
You can connect one or more Google accounts to show your calendar. Ambient connects directly from your device to Google; your calendar data doesn't pass through our servers.
calendar.readonly): Ambient reads your
calendar list and the events of the calendars you choose to show, from today to 7 days
ahead, to show them on the dashboard and to let the voice assistant answer questions about
them.calendar.events): only if you turn on
“Allow adding events” for an account in Ambient's calendar settings. The voice assistant
then adds events you ask for (for example “add lunch with Anna on Friday at 12:30”) to that
account's calendars. Ambient doesn't change or delete existing events. You can turn adding
events off at any time. When you use the voice assistant, the titles, times and locations of your events for the next 7 days, and the names of your calendars, are sent with the conversation to the AI service described below, so that the assistant can answer and add events. They aren't stored.
Ambient's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide the calendar features described here. It isn't used for advertising, isn't sold, isn't used to train AI models, and isn't read by people except with your consent or where required by law.
To disconnect, remove the account in Ambient's calendar settings. You can also revoke Ambient's access in your Google account settings.
The voice assistant is off by default. When you turn it on and talk to it:
Background photos come from Pexels through our server. These requests don't include any personal data.
Weather is provided by Apple WeatherKit or, on older devices, by MET Norway. Your device sends its approximate location directly to these services to get the forecast.
We use these providers to run Ambient: Vercel (hosting and AI Gateway), Upstash (usage counters), OpenAI and Anthropic (AI models), Pexels (photos), and Google (calendar, when you connect it). Their processing is governed by their privacy policies.
Ambient isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
We'll update this page if Ambient's use of data changes, and change the date above.
